Note: This press release is over six months old and the details may have been superseded. Please contact the Press Office for the latest information.

Specialist building envelope contractor Prater, is the latest company to achieve BRE BIM Level 2 business certification just after the Government’s compliance mandate for public sector projects is activated.

With a number of landmark private sector projects in its portfolio including the Emirates Stadium and Heathrow T4, Prater is also a significant player in the public realm. Its specialist teams have delivered a range of health and education facilities across the UK such as the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and the University of Cambridge as well as major infrastructure projects such as the redevelopment of London Bridge Station.

‘We are delighted to announce our BIM Level 2 certification,’ commented Stuart Whiting, Associate Director, Technical at Prater. ‘As a business we have long recognised the positive impact BIM and digital engineering can have if fully embraced and successfully implemented. As such, we have made significant investment into the software and training required and we are now seeing the benefits of BIM first-hand; primarily the successful and safe delivery of complex construction projects. We are very proud to be leading the way and are currently working with our own supply chain partners to communicate and share best practice advice for BIM integration.’

BRE Global’s BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification scheme assesses a business in relation to its BIM capability and policy as outlined in the PAS 1192-2:2013 and PAS 91 standards. It also considers the ability of the business to meet the requirements of an employer to implement BIM on a project.

Guy Hammersley Director of BIM at BRE said ‘With a third party assessment by BRE that BIM level 2 is incorporated into its business processes, Prater’s ability to successfully bid for public sector projects is significantly enhanced. Congratulations to the team at Prater for taking the positive steps to compliance.’

NOTES TO EDITOR

BRE Global BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification scheme assesses a business, based at a single or multiple locations, in relation to the BIM policy and capability defined in PAS 1192-2:2013 and PAS 91. It also assesses the ability of the business to meet the requirements of an employer to carry out a BIM capability assessment. The scheme has been designed to enable certificated businesses to demonstrate compliance with PAS91-2013 section 4.2, so that they will not have to provide evidence of competence each time they undertake a tender.
