Antilooppi strengthens entire portfolio with sustainability certifications including BREEAM

Helsinki-based real estate investment firm Antilooppi has successfully achieved green building certification for its entire property portfolio, marking an important milestone in the Finnish real estate sector.

With a portfolio spanning over 400,000 square metres, including offices in the capital region and the Ruoholahti shopping centre in Helsinki, the company stands as one of the first in Finland to obtain complete green certification for an organisation of its size.

Most of Antilooppi’s office properties have passed the BREEAM In-use assessment. Out of these, 10 properties secured an Excellent rating, while the remaining 18 achieved a Very Good rating. Additionally, two its five LEED-certified properties attained the highest possible level.

Hannamari Koivula, Head of Sustainability and Property Management at Antilooppi, noted the importance of achieving Antilooppi’s goal of 100% certification by the end of 2023. “This fabulous achievement shows that we’ve done long-term, effective work to minimise our properties’ environmental impact. Our clients today are increasingly sustainability-minded, and these certificates allow us to offer them offices that are proven to meet high environmental standards. Thanks for this go to all Antilooppi employees and our stakeholders, who have helped us achieve this.”

Antilooppi emphasises impartial third-party certification as an essential aspect of its sustainability strategy. Certification serves to demonstrate the sustainability of its properties and align with stakeholders’ expectations. Antilooppi’s clients are showing a growing preference for environmentally certified offices, stressing the need for green building certifications like BREEAM.

Jane Goddard, Deputy CEO and Chief Marketing Officer at BRE praised Antilooppi’s commitment to sustainability.

Antilooppi’s success goes to show how much more sustainable real estate is becoming – blending environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into our business is good practice for long-term resilience.

Certification renewal every three years is key for guiding continual development in environmental sustainability. Antilooppi aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, highlighting its commitment to responsible real estate ownership.

Antilooppi CEO Tuomas Sahi emphasised that certification serves as a foundation for ongoing sustainability efforts. “As a responsible real-estate owner, we offer quality, flexible workspaces which support our clients’ increasingly stringent sustainability demands and goals. The 100% certification of our property portfolio is a transparent demonstration of our portfolio’s strong sustainability credentials. It shows we’ve taken an important step forwards on our sustainability journey. The certificates are not an aim in themselves: they are an excellent basis for developing our sustainability efforts further, and this is where we share an interest with our clients.”

Green certification for its entire real estate portfolio signifies a significant step forward in Antilooppi’s sustainability journey. This achievement sets an example for other businesses by highlighting the importance of incorporating BREEAM certifications to meet evolving client demands, whilst contributing to a more sustainable real estate sector.
