Unique access to information, guidance and professional contacts
We manage a range of networks designed to give construction professionals access to the latest information, guidance and research results in their areas of work, along with opportunities to develop valuable professional contacts.
Our network includes…
Constructing Excellence
Constructing Excellence (CE) is a membership-led organisation that aims to improve industry performance in the UK and international built environment sector. The members come from all parts of the sector and its supply chain, from clients to manufacturers.
CE is a not-for-profit organisation providing a unique bridge between industry, clients, government and the research community. BRE provides strategic and membership support for CE while also acting as the main delivery partner.
Innovation Parks Network
This network began with BRE’s Innovation Park at our head office site in Watford. It is a ‘village’ of demonstration homes and other buildings where the latest in sustainable construction techniques, technologies, materials and products developed by industry partners, are tested and showcased at full scale.
This model has since been used to develop a network of innovation parks, with facilities in Scotland and China and further parks being developed in Brazil and Canada, giving the network an increasingly broad global reach. For full details please visit the Innovation Park website, and see the video below on how your innovations can be presented to a worldwide audience.
The Centre for Smart Homes and Buildings
The Centre for Smart Homes and Buildings (CSHB) is a collaborative hub for industry, academia and government. It works to accelerate the use of smart products and services in the built environment, maximise the benefits for all, and address common challenges in the Internet of Things (IoT) market.

The BRE Women’s Network
The BRE Women’s Network is a coordinating group that aims to inspire and support women working in the built environment. Its purpose is to encourage women to join and remain in this industry, by promoting strength in diversity and showcasing the achievements and opportunities available to all in this sector.
UK Green Building Council
BRE is proud to be a founding member of the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC). In the more than ten years of its existence, we have contributed extensively to the UK-GBC’s mission of promoting a more sustainable built environment. We take an active role in the UK-GBC’s member committees and working groups.
AIRTO
AIRTO is the Association for Innovation, Research and Technology Organisations. They have a mission to facilitate, and stimulate, connections and knowledge transfer between members and with other communities, and thereby support best practice for business improvement and growth.
The members of Airto deliver vital innovation and knowledge transfer services which include:
• applied and collaborative R&D
• consultancy
• technology validation and testing
• incubation of commercialisation opportunities
• early stage financing
BRE has an active role in several of the Interest Groups including Cybersecurity, Health & Safety and Marketing & Communications.
Construction Innovation Hub
The Construction Innovation Hub brings together world-class expertise from the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), BRE and the Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB) to transform the UK construction industry.
With £72 million from UK Research and Innovation’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, we will change the way buildings and infrastructure are designed, manufactured, integrated and connected within our built environment.
We will be a catalyst for change. We will drive collaboration to develop, commercialise and promote digital and manufacturing technologies for the construction sector. Research will help us understand how the industry can progress to develop new skills, product standards, capabilities and innovative solutions. This will be combined with an academic programme to create the security-minded frameworks and rules that will underpin our future digital built environment and grow exports for UK know-how.
