BIM is about the Planet – we must learn from previous mistakes and not blow it (again?)

In the rush towards BIM-enabled construction we need to remember what is at the core of what we call BIM, where it came from and maybe even consider how much further we could be along by now. Most papers articles and presentations on Building Information Modelling (BIM) tend to jump straight in from a contemporary construction industry focus and concentrate on the technology angle. However, we risk missing the bigger picture and forgetting that the whole-life data that drives BIM, is ultimately about helping the construction sector to become a resource-efficient and sustainable industry for the good of the planet.
