Willmott Dixon joins the BRE BIM Level 2 luminaries

Note: This press release is over six months old and the details may have been superseded. Please contact the Press Office for the latest information.

National public and private sector contractor Willmott Dixon has been awarded BRE BIM Level 2 business systems certification across its contracting, residential development and property support portfolio.

The award demonstrates Willmott Dixon’s commitment to roll-out the benefits of BIM to its customers, which include greater cost and programme certainty.

Garry Fannon, Head of BIM for Willmott Dixon’s construction business said ‘It has always been our goal to establish expertise in every office rather than a central pool of knowledge which slows down implementation. We hope that this demonstrates our commitment to working with our people and supply chain to deliver BIM projects to the highest possible standard for our clients – this is just the first step on our BIM journey.’

Willmott Dixon worked with BRE to ensure all processes and procedures align with PAS119-2:2013 as well as ensuring each business area’s quality management system did the same.

The organisation is currently establishing a framework of Key Performance Indicators for projects using BIM to highlight the performance achieved at different levels.

BRE Group Director for BIM Guy Hammersley said ‘Throughout the audit process it was very clear that Willmott Dixon see the need for the whole construction supply chain industry to be involved in the digital switchover to BIM Level 2. They are actively addressing this by implementing a scheme that helps their SME suppliers become trained in the requirements of BIM. We are very pleased they have achieved their certification and that they are championing BIM take up in the broader industry.’

NOTES TO EDITOR

BRE Global BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification scheme assesses a business, based at a single or multiple locations, in relation to the BIM policy and capability defined in PAS 1192-2:2013 and PAS 91. It also assesses the ability of the business to meet the requirements of an employer to carry out a BIM capability assessment. The scheme has been designed to enable certificated businesses to demonstrate compliance with PAS91-2013 section 4.2, so that they will not have to provide evidence of competence each time they undertake a tender.
